Morning Site Visit: The Shaolin Temple & Kung Fu Performance

Shaolin Temple, located in Dengfeng City, Henan Province, is a renowned Buddhist temple in China, known as the birthplace of Zen Buddhism and the cradle of Shaolin Kung Fu. Established in 495 A.D. by Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty to accommodate Indian master Batuo (Buddhabhadra), the temple is famously referred to as “the Number One Temple under Heaven.” It features ancient traditional architecture, including the Shakya Mani Hall, Sutra depository, and Thousand Buddha Pavilion.
